Nina Silvert

takes to being a rockstar as though genetically predisposed. Her songs are brutal, kooky, tender and broken, with a high-fashion-meets-abattoir slant. She comes across as unpredictable, neurotic and unhinged. Her mood, voice, and personality change according to the track; just as the musical styles and influences promiscuously fuck with countless from the last five decades. In her you'll see Kurt Cobain, "Kate Bush on speed", Elvis, Poly Styrene, Nico, Bowie, Piaf, Deborah Harry, and a whole bunch of sideshow freaks thrown in just for the shit of it. Her unique image is a hybrid of by-gone Hollywood glamor perverted into post-modern-trash; dressed to kill whilst dying with laughter at herself and all things cool. She's beautifully dysfunctional, and oddly makes perfect sense.
